Hello everyone,
Finally getting started on my Hunter I and wanted to share a few pics and say thanks for all the good ideas and pictures I've been reading and viewing!
I pulled the body off the frame and was pleasantly surprised to find the metal was not full of holes and falling apart.
A little sanding and wire brushing was all it needed, and I did a little welding on some of the joints where fatigue had taken some toll.
The axle was also in good shape, just a little surface rust.






After a good coat of primer and a nice coat of white, I have the beginnings of a nice trailer frame.

Wow! We didn't have to go quite that far! Just clean paint and rewire. Great job on yours! Fun to come!

Great start, I was there 3 years ago. Just give yourself plenty of time. I haven't seen any of the hunters in person, I like the large side windows. The frame also does not have a drop in the middle, your interior floor must be flat from front to back, that would be nice.

Frame sanded, extra supports added, primed, painted, springs disassembled, cleaned and sanded, painted and reassembled, axle sanded, primed, painted and flipped, bearings repacked, wheels sanded and painted, (Hubcaps cleaned and polished but will not be put back on till later). Whew!





Think I might hook up the teardrop and go camping while I plan my next step!

Well after a short delay (funny how work and paying bills can get in the way of important things!), I finally have the body back on the trailer and bolted on. Next will be a new floor and re-installing the windows. I have to cut some new glass and thinking of painting the window frames black.
Then on to the interior walls. Anyone have an easy way to get 40 year old foam off of fiberglass?!?

An easy way... no, but I understand a wire wheel on a drill works pretty well. Just be careful not to wire off the fiberglass fibers and be certain to wear something over your nose!
