Alan,

Go to Preparing a 1991 Scamp look under Modifications. The very end of the thread shows two boxes on drawer slides under our Scamp. We also have 3 other smaller boxes attached to the bottom. We use them all for relatively rarely used items.

More used items are in our rear Bumper Box or two plastic fence posts under the Bumper Box. As Art suggested large diameter PVC pipes work well for a class of items.

Dittos on Norm's post above. This is a long thread but there's a lot of good ideas found within. Here's a link:

There are many ideas floating around, the creativity of this bunch folks is amazing, read those threads. I got so many good ideas here, sometimes I think I improve on them, sometimes not. The 5x5 vinyl fence post covers are great. I just mounted two pieces to my 5th Scamp, one 6' piece above the gas tanks and one 4' one below. Home Depot sells them in 10' lengths. They are easy to cut and modify. You may have to make some brackets, but sometimes large hose clamps work well, to attach them to the frame. Here is how I keep the pyramid covers on them. Those are 3/16 x 2.5 inch cotter pins, two on each cover. I store the yellow CAMCO chocks in them. In order to fit them I had to cut 1/8 inch from each side on my table saw. Also, I had to drill a 1/2 inch hole in the short side, so I could pull them out. Otherwise they have to be pushed out from the other side!

Another way to keep the end caps on the post is to deform the cap edge a little with heat, bending it towards the square. I then use a wing screw to sure it doesn't slide off.
