Awning without a rail

I need help here, Please!

I've been searching for the last two days, for a post about DIY Awning without a rail. I remember it from circa early 2013. I'm not sure but I think Norm and Ginny made it for their son's 13' Trailer...but that's just wild speculation/aging memory at this point.

What I liked about the mod is that there was no rail for the awning, again I could be wishful thinking. It was pretty easy peasy too!

I thought I saved the thread but none of my searches has turned up what I remember.

Any help is truly appreciated....anyone...anyone...Bueller?!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the link. I did look at this the other day. It's the closest idea, I can use without a rail. I'll need a ladder though.

It's not the thread I was searching but the one I've been most contemplating to use.

This summer I've been in too many areas where I needed more shade. I'm also considering making awnings for my each of my windows too....decisions decisions!

...I truly appreciate your help!

Check my registry and you can see pictures of my prototype vintage awning. I do admit it isnt good in heavy rain....now Gage showed photo's of a vintage awning style with 2 shock corded poles in it to help deflect the rain sort of like the gander mountain canopy.

I have thought of giving in and buying the gander mountain awning and covering their name on the 4 sides and adding fringe or something to jazz it up lol.

Cut some vinyl that says 'ParkLiner" and cover the Gander logos.
Then you'll have a super-rare OEM accessory.

Hi Deryk,

I actually was looking at your awning. I like it and will take your advice on supporting the center. I want to use the 3M hooks that Norm and Ginny installed. They're easy enough to replace when the adhesive fails, but the prize is not having to drill.

Thanks for your input and upgrade advice!

Nah I rock the glamping thing and thats what I have against the Gander Mountain style...but I am debating if I know I am going to an event and its going to rain then set up the modified Gander Mountain with some kind of stenciled knotwork patch...or bribe an artist friend of mine to paint something gypsy'ish on it....where there is a will there is a way....

...but I am giving Gage's photo a thought!

You're more than welcome. Always glad to help if I can

Now the payback is for you to post pictures when you get your "Awning without a Rail" installed
