My Compact II came with the battery mounted under the seat inside and has always been difficult to service. Today I made a wood platform on the trailer tonge and mounted a new battery box to it. A couple connections to the main wire harness made the job complete. I also mounted a sewer hose container above the battery box. Getting ready for 2 trailer trips in May.

Looks like a very neat, tidy install. IMHO, that battery is better located out of the shell anyway

Mike,
The battery box on my Hunter I is located on the outside. I have the same wooden shelf behind the propane tank, except my shelf runs to the outer edge of the trailer, and the battery is located on the right side.

When I first got "Lady-Bug" our Boler 13ft. It didn't ahve any battery hook-up and that was one of the first things I did.
I placed it under the rear dinette seat only to wish I had that storage room for other stuff so after the first season I also put it out on tongue.
A fellow Boler-ite gave me a battery tray and I had it welded onto frame and I already had the box and all I did was make a secure hold down with 1/8 rod that I threaded on the ends and put some nuts on bottom.
Worried about theft?
It never came to mind until someone mention it and I may figure a way of locking it in place.

Hi Gerry, for security of my battery I used a 3/16" steel cable with one end anchored to an eye bolt and the other end made like a hasp out of a heavier piece of stainless steel with a slot in it and a half loop welded to the battery box...the cable is the right length to go over the battery box and the hasp fits over the half loop with a lock thru it....like a door hasp with a lock on it......it`s on my webshots site in my trailer photos....seeing the photos may help... ..Benny

HI Benny, I tried to go to your page useing the tag after your name on signature but it didn't open
My battery box has 2 plastic tabs on each side so I plan to put 2 small pad locks and it will slow them down or I will run a cable threw tem and anchor the ends onto frame

I've said this before though..If a theaf wants it he is going to get it no matter what.
