I Just Completed the removal and reinstallation of the complete toilet black tank in my 94'Casita ..... The lower half of the tank (fiberglass) had to come out as it was cracked (repaired for $75) and the seal between The lower half of the tank (fiberglass) and upper holding tank ( the original problem before i cracked the lower tray)needed to be taken apart and i resealed them with 3M 5200 Marine Sealant (7 days to fully cure).....A few people asked me for pictures of the process which i have included and i have to say the job wasn't all that hard to do.
Hope they help somebody.
Joe

Hi Gina...
I kept this spotless throughout the job and the one picture with the open hole in the floor is actually mud from outside that i tracked in and that's it. The bathroom was never used when i purchased it (which is probably why the seal dried out)and it was a closet so taking it apart was a pretty clean job (thank goodness) I have the black tank filled right now with fresh water up to the top to test it and so far all is fine.

Good job, Joe!

Our trailers are truly amazing, aren't they? They just keep on going. They really are not all that hard to repair, they just take being a contortionist at times.

As another '94 Casita owner, I was glad you posted your pics. I'd thought that we had a black tank below the trailer, not the thing under the toilet. Did you learn what the capacity was for the black water tank?

In the photo of your Casita, I see that there are two hatches towasrd the rear on the door side that mine doesn't have. Did you add them? Looks like a water hatch on one of them, but I was wondering what they were.

AZ Charlie,
The capacity of the black tank is six gallons and your tank like mine is a two piece tank.... later on the bottom tray became permanent in the casita and the top half was caulked down to it....
As for the two doors on the side the smaller one is for a lockable water fill as the previous owner was wary of kids dropping something in the drinking water with the pour fill in the rear corner (it's been disconnected)and the other larger door is for access to the underside of the dinette seat on that side..... very handy.
nice talkin to ya'

Six gallons? I think the literature on mine states that is a 9 gallon.

Hey Suz.....
I made a mistake on the black holding tank gallons...... mine is 8.25 gallons (as per my sealand/dometic manual) which is better than the 6 Gallons i thought it was.

The toilet in my Casita is a "Sealand/Dometic 911-M28 Marine Traveler"
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Joe
