Blocks for 1979 17' Boler

Hi guys, this is our first post here and excited to get some feedback. I'm interested in lifting my 79 boler and wanted to add 1.5" or 2" blocks to give it a bit more clearance and yes for looks as well. Has anyone done this and does anyone have the specs of the blocks I need? Or where I could get some made here in Calgary? Thanks

First order of business is to welcome you to Fiberglass RV. You will find more info than you ever thought available here. Every one likes pictures and they make it easier to answer questions also. If the Boler 17 has a Dexter or torque flex axle rather than leaf springs and looks like a lowrider you likely need a new axle rather than lift blocks-not what you want to hear I know but will improve the "ride". There are many posts about axles ,etc here and with a bit of searching you will finds lotsa answers. Good luck.

Yes, as Reid says... Welcome to FiberglassRV.

And, I agree with what he said. Your trailer is 33 years old. If it's a torsion axle, it could be past time to replace it. That alone will give you some height. By time you cut off the axle, weld on spacers and put the axle back on... unless you're the welder, you may end up spending as much as a replacement... or within reasonable cost. If you replace the axle, consider brakes. You'd never regret having brakes....

Check with Paul Neumeister at FibreglassRV.com. He probably has just what you need. Although you'd need to have it shipped, it's possible shipping won't be as expensive as you think and you'd get exactly what you want.

Okay, just found out it probably doesn't have a torsion axle. But I do know leaf springs can lose their arch. Leaf springs (and shackles) are easier and cheaper to replace than a complete torsion axle.

Donna D is right on both counts, ours has 1.5" wide leaf springs and brakes are a great idea.
P.S. We also purchased a retro fit shock kit learned about on this site.

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your responses! I failed to mention that the current axle is not the orignal. The previous owner replaced it with a 3500lb breaking axle a couple of years ago and I also noticed yesterday that the springs are "under axle" which blocks will not help me at all. I could flip the axle but I believe this will give me too much lift and could look bad?? Maybe I'll leave it as is before I bite off more than I can chew! haha Thanks again for all of your comments!
