For those looking for a simple solution, I added this
storage unit from Ikea to my closet. I had to add a few spacers on the side, you loose a bit a space overall, but I think the space is more useable with the removable drawers. There is enough space on top for one additional shelf.
The drawers come in different depths and you can also get lids for them. The bottom container in this picture is just a tub I used to clear off the old shelves and doesn't go with the unit.
As an aside to this install, I found the original manual for the
furnace, stove and
fridge as well as some original brochures from
Boler under one of the old shelves in the bottom of the closet. The
fridge was removed by a PO, but I still have the
furnace. I'll scan these when I get a chance and post them if anyone is interested.
