Boler - no stove, but taller fridge?

What do you guys think about installing a 3.1 cu ft fridge, something like this BestBuy.ca - Computers, Televisions, Video Games & Cameras - Best Buy Canada - Best Buy Canada ?

We would cut away the counter which would get rid of the stove (no biggie - we weren't planning on cooking on it anyway. We have an electric induction cook top) as well as the cutlery drawer.

Our Boler does not have a vent to the outside though. It does have a pretty rough looking vent out the side, towards the couch. Since my vision is this fridge not being enclosed like the smaller fridges/ice box/whatever, do I need an exterior vent?

I know I would need to think about attaching the fridge somehow to the remaining countertop too.

Thanks for opinions and advice!

Sarah

Electric fridges don't need to be vented to the outside - only propane ones do.

You just need an inch or two of clearance between the unit and the floor and back wall so room air can flow around it cooling the condenser coils.

If your budget can stand the cost you might consider a 12v fridge. They cost a lot more but are practical to run off your battery. A 120v will only work (realistically) when plugged in to shore power.

Bought a Trillium last year and reinstalled a propane fridge and propane stove. Previous owner cut off the counter to put in an electric fridge and hot plate. So my advice is - don't do it! Had to rebuild the cupboard as they didn't keep the piece they cut up.

It is expensive to install propane fridges but they are available used as people pull them out of tent trailers and rv that are being trashed all the time.

12V fridge and no stove makes no sense. You can store the food, but you can't cook when off grid. If you always have hook ups, then you don't need 12v fridge.

But with a little butane hot plate you can cook off the grid.

Just read the instructions and don't use it inside.
