boler repair

hello,
I have the possiility to buy a boler for about $3000. It is as is. It should be pretty much ok but it has been just sitting for about seven or eight years. I suppose I will at least need new tires. But, I am wondering if anyone can tell me whether it is worth it to get this. How much might it cost me to fix it up. I realise that there aren't many details but I could benefit from your experience.thanks joe

Joe, it all depends on how much you can do yourself, while ENJOYING the challenge, and how much time & money you are willing to put into it. Do you have the blessing/support of a significant other for the projects? Tires are old enough to NEED replacing, as will be the axle, propane tank and battery. All windows and vents should be removed to be resealed. Does it have a working refrigerator, heater, and water heater, and converter? Is the foam in the cushions adequate or is it broken down and needs to be replaced as well as curtains? Many of us enjoy a project, but many just want to go out and enjoy camping. You have to weigh all the pro's & cons to determine what you would enjoy. Good Luck, and don't be shy about asking to tap into others knowledge.
Happy Trails
Dave & Paula

Thanks for the response, Dave. At least I know now what to look into. Didn't have a clue what to think about before. I imagine these repairs could run me close to $1000. that brings the price up quite a bit. I don't know about an axle but I imagine that would be costly.
thanks joe

This web-site has a buyers check list that you should down-load prior to looking at a trailer. It would be a good read for you to have something to think about in order to make an informed decision as to how much you should spend on a trailer that you want.

Thanks for going to the trouble of posting this information. When I look at that checklist, I have to say that I am growing less interested in a fixer upper.
