They are good on ice Greg!
I was considering doing a tutorial on the screen door much like the one I did for the
Boler door fix.
I took lots of progress pictures and I made notes of all the dimensions as I went along.
The total cost was about $85
All the materials other than the alum. Piano hinges is available at your local glass shop and lumber yard.
I ordered 3- 6' lengths of alum. hinge form McMasters Carr for a total of $25 after conversion, shipping and the bonded import house.
The frame, corner clips and spline was $40
The screen and 12"a 8' piece of shelving was under $20
The other parts and prices, some were were free from the scrap bin at the glass shop and parts I had left over from other projects around the house.
(I discovered the glass shop bins are a gold mind for pieces) Why I didn't think of it sooner????
In Armstrong, the one place I found alum. piano hing, they wanted $33 including the taxes for one length and then it was too wide anyhow.
All in all I am very pleased with how it turned out. There are a couple of things I would do different if I was doing it again.
One is I would order the harder alum. alloy piano hinges as the ones I got are just a little to soft when you pop rivet them.
