Brakes

When you add electric brakes to a 1971 Boler what do you use for brake drums? I can find electric brake kits everywhere but no info on the drums is given.

I was previously told that unless the flanges for the brake drums are already there, this will require an updated axle with flanges. On a '71 Boler this might be a good idea anyway.

I have the flanges on my axle, just want to find the brake drums before I spent the money on the brake kit.

One can buy the flanges separately and have them welded to the spindle.

Here is an example from eTrailer.

The brake parts seem to be standardized across manufacturers, but the brake drum bearing size has to be coordinated with the spindle diameter so that the inner and outer bearing size are the same for the spindle as for the drum. That might determine whether you have a 7", 8.5" or 10" brake system.

The folks at eTrailer are good with email responses, though you can sometimes find parts for less elsewhere.
