Bunk Support Posts

I'm just about finished rehabbing a 88 Scamp 16. The front bunk has a couple of support posts. My question is what holds them captive at the top. There is a about a 1" post that fits in a socket at the bottom, and little loop welded to it that supports the front edge of the top bunk. But it seems there should be something that captures the top of this post to prevent it from accidently slipping out and causing what would be big trouble to an upper and lower bunk occupant.

Please help clarify.

Thanks,
Steve

There is suppose to be two screw heads sticking out under the seat back that set in the post loops when the post are in place.

I just finished reinstalling the bunk back in our Trillium 1300. I actually changed the original legs to Ikea desk legs. They are super solid and only required a few modifications. Really happy with the result.

The screws should be tightened so that you cannot remove the pole without removing it from the bottom flange. On mine, that means I cant the pole in about 20 degrees, attach it to the screw, then pivot bottom into the flange.
