Absolutely joking about being toddler proof! ;4). Pelican cases aren't even warrantied against 3 year olds.
The webbing is 1" so by looking at the first photo you can see that none of the netting "holes" are bigger than 4". My only concern would be the bottom of the net if he tried to slide out, however the fit is tight and I don't believe it would be possible. I will add some bottom straps if needs be.
I do appreciate your concern and thank you for pointing out potential hazards to others that might be looking to use a similar approach. Mom and I will never be more than 5' away.
