Compact Jr Stabilizer Jacks

I need to add stabilizer jacks to my CPJ. Who else has done this? What kind did you use and where did you mount them?

Hi Jeremy, we installed stabilizer jacks at the rear of our trillium. We had them welded to the bumper.

If you google images of stabilizer jacks there are all kinds of pictures of where people have placed them as well as different types.

On a Hunter Compact do be careful what you add to the rear of the frame. Some of the bigger crank-down stabilizers can get pretty heavy. A new one piece stabilizer rack, designed for a 10,000 lb Toybox, was donated to me by a neighbor and, after cutting it down to fit and installing I have to be sure to always add extra tongue weight to maintain balance. This might not be as much problem on larger trailers, but on a Compact, it can matter. Otherwise you might get a case of the "Tail wagging the Dog"

I have two very short adjustable jack stands that came with my trailer from the previous owner.

Very lightweight, the bases are actually plastic! But they do the job well.

The vertical post is metal and is threaded into the base.

The trailer is so light you can lift up on the rear bumper to slide the stands underneath.

A long time ago I was towing a pop-up camper down the highway when one of the welded support stands broke off and hit the windshield of the car behind me.

Luckily it only cracked their windshield. It could have been much worse. We exchanged insurance info but I never heard from them.

I'll stick to the portable stands now.
