Cool!

After 8 years with an air conditioner in my window, I decided I wanted my window back. I made the window installation reversible so I could take the A/C out and no one would know it was ever there.
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ner-26008.html

I bought a Coleman Polar Cub 9200 BTU roof mounted RV air conditioner with "heat strip" and just finished installing it.

I removed my Fantastic Fan to install the A/C.
Now I need to cut a new 14" x 14" hole to reinstall the Fantastic Fan in front of the A/C.

I assume that you had to make the 14" vent hole bigger.

No, the Coleman is designed to fit in the standard 14" sized hole.

And so are all brands of common RV roof-mount air conditioners. They are typically much bigger than 14"x14", but the part going through the roof is that common size.

Good job, Looks factory. Does yours have a heat strip?
Just curious but how do you get hooked up to that rig?
Looks like a fence in front of it?

I was thinking of the factory Trillium roof top AC. I guess they did this for the head room.

There's a 16' gate in that fence. Here's another perspective:

David, that's a fascinating piece in that roof; I agree it looks like a raised section to maintain headroom under the air conditioner, and it may also serve as a reinforced "bridge" across the roof. I think you'll find that the air conditioner itself is installed through a typical 14" square hole in the raised section.

Based on this thread, I think you are correct.

Cool Air Conditioning and a Fantastic Fan

Now I need to cut a new 14" x 14" hole to reinstall the Fantastic Fan in front of the A/C.
I measured and marked the new location. Then I drilled 3/8" holes in the corners. Used a jig saw to "connect the dots." Since the Fiber Stream is un-insulated, all I have is about 1/8" of fiberglass to cut through. From my scrap materials bin I found some leftover pieces of Trex and milled it on the table saw. I used Butyl tape to attach the Trex frame to the top of the 14" x 14" hole. A stained wood frame was Butyl taped to the underside of the hole and the two frames were drilled through the fiberglass and screwed together from the inside. I then installed the Fantastic Fan to the top of the Trex frame with more Butyl tape and screwed it down. Then I finished the job by caulking with DAP® DYNAFLEX 230® Premium Indoor/Outdoor Sealant and then reinstalled the cover over the Fantastic Fan.

The Fantastic Fan is centered in the trailer. Note the gray conduit that brings the 12 volt wires from the kitchen wall to the fan.

The Air Conditioner replaces the Fantastic Fan. The gray conduit remains and a new cord is zip-tied to anchors glued to the ceiling to bring 12 volts from the AC enclosure to the new Fantastic Fan location. 110 volts is brought from the outlet inside the top of the Pantry/Refrigerator cabinet on the other side of the AC enclosure.

The Air Conditioner and Fantastic Fan as seen from the kitchen area.
