Cork is nice but why not use Bamboo?

By the time you save up enough corks to do a trailer floor the wine you consumed will cause you to forget what you were going to use them for.

Nothing like getting corked in the trailer, eh?

Any follow up?

Anyone care to relate how the cork floor held up? I know this thread is a bit old, but I really am thinking about a cork floor in a Casita. Did you lay it over a vinyl floor, or strip the vinyl and install on bare floor?
I often stay at a waterside hotel that has all their baths floored with cork and it holds up great in a wet bathroom. I think the trick is to have enough coats of poly on top.

Eileen, we have put one full season on ours, and it is as good as new.

As I used a glue-down cork (LINK), I had to remove the vinyl. I wanted to anyway, as it would just be dead weight.

And you are right, it is the polyurethane that gives it is surface durability and waterproofing.

Having used cork numerous times on work projects, I really do think it is an ideal solution to flooring in our trailers. Warm in both colour and to the touch of your feet, plus with a good wearing and waterproof surface, it is a great choice. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Not cork - but looks like cork.

Don't recall the brand name, found it in the remnant room at a local carpet and tile store. It is a heavy duty vinyl, laminated to what is practically an under pad.

It's very resilient underfoot, like real cork, and is designed so it can be used as a 'floating' floor cover - though I did use adhesive at the entry and around the edges. So far, so good.

I concur with Jim. The real deal cork looks and wears great.
