Cowgirl Glamping
I've been doing lots of fun updates to my little "Rhinestone Bunkhouse" for the last few weeks. When I first got it, the goal was to make it safe and dry. So I did the following with the help of my new friends here on FGRV. - Cleaned up the rats nest of wiring. Its still not finished, I have to add 12v fuse box, but its at least what I think is safe with careful monitoring not to overload anything and watch my usage.
- Caulked around the windows with butyl tape and non silicone caulking.
- Replaced the weatherstipping around every window and the door.
- Replaced the glazing around the windows. They were origingal and missing big chunks and the PO had filled them with silicone.
- Cleaned out old caulk and caulked around the belly band.
- Replaced the battery with the largest 12v that would fit the battery box. Everstart Maxx Group 29. EverStart Maxx Group Size 29 Marine Battery: Automotive : Walmart.com
- New Thetford Porta Potti 320P. Size is perfect with room to spare. Yes this was a saftey mod. Do you know what a 35 year old PP looks like? Uck. 4 gal fresh and 3.2 waste. So easy to empty. Is this TMI???
- Installed a 100w flexible solar panel and MPPT controller. So far I've run everything off the 12v without concern. Its the best mod I think so far.
- Oh wait, maybe solar wasn't the best mod...there was the Fantastic Fan I installed and wired. Luckily I'm able to manage without air conditioning where I camp, with the aid of the FF. I may eat my words if global warming continues to mess up California weather.
- Removed 2 layers of carpet and replaced with vinyl faux rustic wood planks.
Then I started glamping her up. - I made new curtains. Of course I used vintage cowboy barkcloth.
- decorated in cowgirl all the way (Practically)
- I'm painting the cabinet doors today aqua. The contrasting color that I'm using a lot of is red. Love it.
Of course I'll post pictures Donna. Heres the first and more to come as I get the doors installed and clean up the little bunkhouse for its debut photo shoot.
Its a perfect day for painting. Temperature are warm but not too hot, and low humidity. Preping is everything. Today I removed the doors, removed the hardware, filled holes, sanded, primed with Kilz, and appied 3 coats (so far backs only). I bought new hardware, but I'm taking one of the hinges to the hardware store to see if I can find black hinges to match the handles with the same hole configuration. I've refinished lots of cabinets and the hardest thing is getting the doors to line up properly with new hinge. I don't like to paint hinges, but I will if I can't find new ones to match the old ones.

Sweet upgrades! Looking forward to the final results. I don't have AC and except for a couple of really hot weekends, I've done fine with fans. I'd be even happier with a FF, but haven't gotten around to installing one yet.

The doors are dry to touch and will be ready to hang tomorrow. I found new hinges that had just the right screw hole configuration so I'm excited about putting it all back together and taking pictures tomorrow for everyone.
Stand By for the big reveal!
Glad you guys like the name. I thought it just suited the direction I was going in decorating the little guy.

1977 13' Scamp Belfore Pictures
I purchased my Scamp from the Original owners. It was in good condition for its age, but a bit boring. I had to do something about that. It had original ucky avacodo green carpet with shag carpet over that. Lots of dirt embedded in the carpet. I'm so glad its gone.
Cabinet doors are painted and back up now. I picked the handles because we had them in our home in Texas when I was a little girl--nostalgic. The upper middle door is leaning so I need to reinforce the back of it. I'll work on that at the campground this week.
My snooty brother-in-law once told me "color is the luxury of the poor" when I was wearing a bright collored shirt. LOL

It's looking great! You're making me look like the slacker I am! Anyways, great job. Out of curiosity, what brand and color of flooring did you use? I've been looking at Allure at Home Depot. Also, what did you use to paint the fridge? Ours is beige ugliness! I also love the RED backsplash! Looks like it's really coming together.

I took the panel off the fridge and painted it the color of the backsplash. Then decided to put rivit this little sign to the panel. Got it at a little shop in central Oregon last year and thought I'd have to find someplace to put it.
In these bed pictures it shows my bed which I keep setup all the time. Nothing says nostalgia like old chenelle bedspreads. This ones got a cowboy on it. I like to think I'm sleeping with a cowboy. I've used vintage throw pillows and pillows I made from old pennants I've had for years. I roll up the sleeping bag with a leather belt link thing that I got at the Pendleton factory. At night I unroll and sleep in the bag. I also got my blankets from the Pendleton factory. I love the colors in them. I made the curtains from a little piece of vintage barkcloth. I didn't have much so added a coordinating fabric to make it stretch more.

Another picture of the curtains open this time. I used Ikea rods.
Since I didn't have much vintage fabric I made shades for the side windows out of barbed wire fabric trimed with same trim fabric as the curtains. I embroidered "Giddy Up" at the bottom for fun. The other shade I embroidered "Happy Trails".
I used an old ice tong for a paper towel holder. I attached horse shoes to the black supports for a dish towel rack.
