CT 13 vent hood replacement.

My vent hood has rusted thru in a few places, it's not salvageable. So I'm Looking for a direct replacement for my original vent hood. I am trying not to cut the exterior shell for a different size vent plate, the replacements I have found from Heng's would all require that. I would prefer to keep the original look of the hood... Has anyone replaced theirs and kept the original vent plate?

We removed our vent hood along with the stove (no not selling it). The problem with the outside vent louver plate is that a wind driven rain will blow in and water works it's way inside the hood and eventually drips on the stove causing it to rust. Before removing the hood and eventually sealing off the opening under the outside louver I modified and installed a cover over the vent plate.

That penetration of rain is undoubtedly what caused my hood to rust out. I may follow your method to block the rain better, thank you.
