D C. Trailer Wiring Basics

Can anyone recommend a good reference book for D C wiring? I have a 1982 Burro that has been stripped and need to rewire everything. I know just enough about D C wiring to get into trouble and would really like to buy a good reference book. Thanks

I have not seen this one but it gets pretty good reviews for a basic RV electrical ssytems book... light on generator and solar info and the rest a little dated.

I just posted a Burro 12V running lights wiring diagram in the Document Center, under Electrical.

Thanks, Felix and Gordon. I saw the book you mentioned during my original research and think I will get it. Going to look at the Burro wiring diagram and copy it. Thanks again.

I think I'll rewire my trailer eventually. Looking at marine grade wire as I've used it before. genuinedealz.com as worked well for me for wire and connectors. I get the connectors with heat shrink so it seals the wire end.

Hope your rewire goes well.

Not "Burro specific," but a very handy reference source for all things 12 VDC. Handy to have because there's a lot of information in it, and the best part - it's free! (downloadable.)

Part #1: The 12volt Side of Life

Part #2: The 12volt Side of Life

Great information Greg, thank you. Like many people, I really needed this information about maintaining my batteries. I’ve copied both parts and will definitely be investing in a good converter for my Burro. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Not RV specific, but a huge amount of crossover:

Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual: How to Maintain, Repair, and Improve Your Boat's Essential Systems

Author Nigel Calder - look for a used copy, I see them done to less than $5.00.

Sorry it took a while to respond. Had to dig up the book that I use: "Managing 12 Volts" by Harold Barre.
