Where the shower/toilet use to be is to go a small study/reading/dinette table that I'd like to get some opinions on:

This sample table is 22"x30". The bench seat is 15" off the deck and the table is 25" high..... She's outta town so I better get this right with proper approved

Kevin,

We've used a 24 x 30 inch table for 7 years and find it the right size for the two of us. You can see it under Preparing a 1991 Scamp in the Modifications section, some where near the thread beginning.

As to height, we used the existing dinette table leg.

I would want it as deep as the counter, unless you have a reason not to. and the edge where I slide in and out I would want curved. would not like to get poked every time by the corner. Was thinking I would also want it counter height and put cushion on top of cushion, .but the guy in the aisle then has it way too high. Maybe that is also why you don't want it so deep?

Yeah, take the edge off that corner, otherwise you will later. You could look at Scampwebsite, 16 standard layouts. For some reason they round back and front edges, that seems dumb.

Just looking at that again and was wondering about making it so it could be lowered when not used as a table to make an L shape sitting area. I have never seen anyone do that. If one slept up front it would give extra shoulder room.

If you make it too long you can cut it back? If you make it too short???you can have gap between counter and sofa?

OK, I'll stop now, won't even get into height issue because we don't know if person in corner is 5' or 6'.

Guess I can't quit yet. I noticed since the bathroom was removed you have lost structure. For roof support you may want to consider putting support from right hand counter to ceiling. see pictures of standard 16 Scamp at Scamp website. Look for pictures of the floor plan with side dinette and front bunk. without that bathroom wall you need something? Hope others chime in on this support issue.

To make such a crucial decision the Senior Interior Decorator should be present to sign off a final approval. Otherwise you leave yourself open to criticism every time "your" table is used.

Moral of the story: "Happy wife, happy life."

Kent from scamp said the bathroom structure was not 'structural' in terms of integrity to the trailer.....But we like our twisty upper cabinet supports so we kept them, another one on this side may look good and give at least some more rigidity.... Scamp sell them ? Anyone got one for sale?

This is a statement fraught with contradictions, not to mention descriptive/predictive of perhaps mortal peril. I for one simply cannot in good conscience become a party to your obvious desire for self-destruction.

Yep. It will remain a cardboard mock up for now. 👍
