I second perry camper idea... did that same thing very inexpensive and a simple rivet job w/some small washers or screws
Every big box store has these remade to fit a regular house screen door
Don’t over think it

Our dog shredded our lower screen panel pretty quickly. I went into the hardware store to get screen material and plexiglass, but while I was there I ran across some screen material that claimed to be "pet-proof". I was pretty skeptical, but figured it was worth a try. That was about a year ago and so far, so good. I don't think he's tried to get through it, but he's pawed at it here and there and there's no sign of even minor damage.

Do yourself a favor and buy the silly little screen installer wheel instead of trying to do it with improvised tools, though.

[QUOTE=NW Cat Owner;731595]I'm thinking you might want to add some sort of decal or some such on there so the dog knows it's a solid barrier since the plexiglass will be clear.

Or, on the plexiglass backside decoupage a large picture of a mountain lion..

Seriously, plexiglass scratches and gets dirty quick. Instead, go to your best hardware store and purchase a nice piece of "expanded metal" which is a perforated aluminum sheet panel with decorative patterned tiny holes. The basic aluminum color will hide dirt well. Installed, it is easy to keep clean by fully opening the green door to the outdoors and brush or hose it clean. It lasts almost forever and was commonly used on residence porch screen doors for decades. Select something maybe 24 inches or taller and slightly less than the full width of the screen door. It can be cut easily with metal snips, electric saws or a willing store clerk. Raw edges can be sanded smooth with a sandpaper block or a file. Secure it to each side of door with screws.

You may also be able to locate online or in stores a pre-made version in the correct size ready to go complete with metal top and bottom cap rails that act as stiffeners. Why re-invent the wheel?

We camp with a cat and use a magic screen type door to allow him in and out, on a leash. We also have the stock screen door and when its closed, it confuses the hell out of him. The look on his face is, "it worked a minute ago" as he butts his head against it. We have used the system on 2 trailers and 2 cats now. I know that you are looking on how to keep the dog in so the other ideas offered above should work. We are trying to let the cat in and out of our trailer so we all get to enjoy the outdoors.

We have used the following screen door guard since 2012 in our Casita. We have 5 Australian Shepherds. None of them have ever broken through this gate. I see it comes in black or white also but costs more.
