Dometic RM2193 or RM4223 replacement fridge in '74 Trillium

Hi there,

I have a '74 Trillium that had an original (I suspect) Dometic RM24 fridge in it. The built-in-space requirements from the instructions for this fridge are 22.25H x 19.25W x 18.25D.

The two possibilities for replacement fridges that were recommended at the RV store are:

Dometic RM2193 - 21.875H x 17.75W x 20.875D (narrower/deeper)
Dometic RM4332 - 21H x 19.25W x 24D (shorter/deeper)

Both of these are shorter in one dimension on the front and are deeper than the old RM24 which would necessitate some sort of filling panel on the front along with an increase in extension from the front cabinet.

Has anyone installed either of these fridges in a Trillium? Pics/advice would be greatly appreciated. Any other brands/models I should be considering? After searching the forums, it seems there are more people scavenging bits of fridges or old fridges rather than going with new equipment.

Thx,

Chris P.

Follow on question after some more web searching: are there any LP/120V fridge manufacturers besides Norcold and Dometic?

Thx again,

Chris P.

Another member had the same question about a week ago in Problem Solving, I think. An RM2193 wouldn't fit in his either. We have a California made Trillium with a RM2193 installed in it. It fits fine. Nothing built out. It is flush with the cabinet. Supposedly ours was made from the original molds, so why the older Trilliums have less space is mystery. Raz

Here's my thread that P. Raz is referring too.

I don't know the depth of your cabinet, but mine is approximately 18 1/2"s. I am using a 2193 and decided to move it down and have a drawer on top. Some more depth is found by keeping it higher. I am building out the whole front of my cabinet a full 3"s to fit the fridge and new furnace, I'm also adding a drawer and 2 small cabinet doors . I'm going to post some pics when I'm done.
