It took over a month with the Fiber Stream up on Jack Stands, but it's over.
1. Jack up the trailer and remove 4 wheels & tires. Take spare out of storage compartment.
2. Take wheels to tire shop, order 5 new tires. Have tire shop dismount tires and bring wheels home.
3. Use chemical paint stripper to remove 2 layers of white paint. Strip each surface of all 5 wheels at least twice. 2 full days of labor.
I have a new friend who is a machinist, and has a fully equipped shop at his house. He welded a gusset on my frame to strengthen it, and try to straighten the rear sag. Anything I do at his place I only have to pay for materials. But his shop is only available to me on Saturdays.
4. Sand blast wheels clean at Dan's shop. Two consecutive Saturdays.
5. Powder Coat all 5 wheels.
6. Take wheels back to tire shop to have new tires mounted.

Not to make you but my dad (a dump truck owner) had Les Schwab do this on his truck wheels for about $22/wheel. They send the wheels off to Prineville where they strip off the old paint, inspect them for cracks, ect, and then will powdercoat them in your choice of about 10 colors. However, you do run the chance of them rejecting the wheel at inspection and you have to buy a new one. But if they reject it, you probably don't want to be driving around on it anyways.

I was quoted $75.00 per wheel for primer & paint. After I had already Sand Blasted.
I have less than $10 per wheel invested... not counting my time...

I'm going the opposite way of you Frederick. The wheels on my soon-to-be-finished tug are maroon powder coat. I'm having them painted yellow. Powder coat makes a great underlay for paint. Smoooooth.
We have more than one member in our truck club that's installed a home/stove oven in their garage. Guess wheels fit inside the oven just fine. Bake them puppys!

Standout colour! I agree that baby moon caps would be a nice touch.
Frederick, what's the spec for the new tires? Still 12", of course, but 5.30x12 again? Bias or radial? Load range?

We have baby moons on our Casita, we put them on just in time for the Oregon Gathering last year, Last month my spare tire cover gave up the ghost so I shined up the tire and put a baby moon on that to. There available from JC Whitney under baby moons for about $90.00 for 4. They are made from 304 stainless which is one of the best

Or, if you want more shine and less paint showing, there are "full moon" chrome wheel covers. Tom Trostel

Very nice. Adds alot of class.
A used car salesman a long time ago in a land far away, once pointed out that wheels are
visually the most important thing about a car. They would paint the wheels and dress the tires without even doing much else to a car before putting it on the lot.
And if you think about it one can see a rusty old 'classic' with a nice set of wheels and it looks OK. A brand new car with a missing hub-cap and it looks less than well-cared for!(that's a euphemism by the way)
I think this applies to trailers too.
Nice job!
