Elephant Hide

Is there an official name for Elephant hide? I would like to compare it to the "rat fur" in a Scamp.
Thanks
Guy
PS Waiting time for new covers for my Scamp is 10-12 weeks. Uhhhhhh!

Ensolite dba Elephant Hide

How are you going to compare the two totally different types of coverings? Ensolite is a vinyl covered foam. Rat fur is a marine grade headliner... kinda fuzzy. Ensolite can be scrubbed and painted. Rat fur is vacuumed and cleaned like carpet flooring.

Hi: neauone... Unofficially it's Ensolite vinyl covered foam. I believe that Tom Young from Trillium sells enough to do one trailer but that supply is somewhat precarious.
If you haven't already removed it...it can be painted and caulked with paintable vinyl caulking and Acrylic latex kitchen and bath paint.

I'm not crazy about the "rat fur" boy do I hate that name, lol. But the look of the Ensolite is more to my taste. It looks cleaner( not in the cleanliness meaning), more like a finished wall. It also seems to give the illusion that you have more space in the camper.
NOW, cost wise, are they similar?

I have ensolite but would much prefer "rat fur".

Don't know what Rat Fur would cost, but Ryan put new Ensolite in his Trillium Sportsman and he said it was a bit north of $1,500 for the ensolite plus glue We used 18 cans of hp15 at 20 bucks a can : http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post381645

To ME, that's a lot of money. YMMV

My Scamp has ensolite and I REALLY like that it has a very tough and durable surface, it can be scrubbed pretty hard with a bristled brush and bleach, and it causes no harm. The white color does lend a sense of more space compared to the Rat Fur.
Although the Rat Fur with reflectix underneath "might" insulate better i much prefer the Ensolite.
Years ago my wife looked a Scamp with the rat fur, my wife really disliked the wall covering. However, if I had ended up buying one with it, I'm sure we would have both come around to appreciate it more.
