I bought two red LED
light strips that have peel and stick bottoms off of Amazon. They can but cut every 3 LEDs to fit where you like. If you are a good and with a soldering iron you can reuse the left over pieces elsewhere. Cost was about $15 a strip. I put these on tp of the valence on either side of my cabover.
I also positioned a marine a Navigators
light between my galley and dinette. It has a curly cord that allows me to move it to a second mounting plate, which was included, that I place over the dinette. It has an on/off switch and a polarizing filter to reduce the
light like a dimmer.
Both of these are great when I want to be in stealth mode. I am day/night pleated shaded I pull down to night mode--which covers three of my
windows near these
lights. I fold up my pajama cabinet doors which block about 40% of the cab over
windows. Some light bleeds through but I'm not a glaring beacon. I camper this way at a
solar energy installers conference last month in a a Holiday in parking lot and no one said anything. I walked my dogs every few hours and parked close but a bit out of the away from the entrance.
I also replaced all my interior
lights with LEDs. Four pairs on the ceiling with bright white temperature LEDs, the two cabover reading
lights and stove light with warmer LEDs. The bathroom has a bluish tint set of four LEDs that I can tolerate.
Last I installed two 30 milliampere marine night-lights. One is by the door and can be reached easily before entering and the other shines down my hallway. Both of these are disappointing in that they are two bright. I plan to put a red tint film over them to make them dimmer.
You would think all these lights would be enough! I want two more. I want one more strip of red LEDs over the dinette valance and a single small led over my thermometer so I can monitor my basement temperature at a glance.
