Thanks Donna, it's a whale of a lot better than what I had in there. I adore my little camper. Bit by bit I'll make it look like new again! :-)

Denise, it doesn't need to be "new again," it just needs to be perfect for you... whatever that is

Funny James..LOL Actually there is one spot in the back..ha,ha, that I'm hoping that the trim covers. When I say I'm not a carpenter..I couldn't be more honest. LOL
But thanks!

Hi Jean,

My 1972 Boler appears to have the same flooring (light green pattern) it was made in Peace River, Alberta. Maybe they used one source for materials on some things?

Trailer: 17 ft Burro
Posts: 22
After reading many post/threads here about flooring options I too have embarked on installing the Allure flooring '87 17' Burro WideBody . My local HD had a sale on Old Country Pine so I picked some up. Donna D. had mentioned the idea of using those kids room foam squares that puzzle piece together as an underlay to add some insulation (My Burro has none at the moment). I pulled out the old green boat carpet laying it over the assembled foam squares and used it as a template to cut the foam.

I did have a small rotten spot in the floor in the very front that I had to patch. Luckily it wasn't too difficult.

Tonight I hope to get the foam layer in.

My question for y'all is would you have the planks running the length of the camper or would you have the running side to side? I'm asking this due to thinking it may be easier on the install to run them side to side because cutting the vinyl "planks" on the ends to the contour of the wall would be less hassles than cutting the "planks" lengthwise!?!

What are y'alls thoughts on installation plank direction?

Greg

I do not know how to answer your question really but I like the idea of foam underneath. How did it turn out?

Length wise, I wouldn't install Allure over foam.
It's a ridged floating floor.

Side to side, no foam. I have installed 3 of these floors, one lengthwise and 2 side to side. The side to side has less expansion cracks and looks better. You do not attach this floor to anything, it floats. On the sides you use molding that hide the spaces a log the edges that allow for expansion/contraction. A lot harder to do if you install lengthwise. In addition where there can not be molding, use color matching caulk. Here are some pictures of my installs.

a couple more, the first three are in a EggCamper, lengthwise, the next 2 pictures are in a Lance, crosswise, the last 2 in an Escape, lengthwise and crosswise, very complicated install that one with running it in both directions. Unless you are good with wood tools, crosswise is easiest and simplest.
