And handy! No one will ever say there is plenty of counter space in these small trailers. If they do, then I bet they don't cook much. I usually end up using most of the dinette table just to prepare a meal.

If you want to find anything, and I mean anything, check out Lee Valley Tools. They have stores and do mail order. I'd hate to guess how many types of hinges they have for any application. I got tired of climbing over the table in the tent trailer to get to the bed, so I cut the table by a third and used a very strong hinge from Lee Valley that attached under the table and allowed the cut part to swing down, out of the way. Didn't have to clear the table to fold it. They have piano hinges, hinges like the one used and many others.

If you're doing anything that involves hardware, woodworking or gardening, you should check them out on-line.

I just bought a package of 50, 11 7/8" zap straps that can be released and re-used for about $5. I use these to corral my hoses and extension cables.

Even if you don't need to buy anything, browsing their catalogues will give you all kinds of ideas.

Holy cow! I just took ours out while adding a front dinette. We tried to leave it in but found it in the way. It was handy. We'll miss it.

Is there is any interference with the upper bunk?

Here is a variation of that idea I found online, called a folding desk, I like this one because you have a bit of storage space inside. Could be useful....though I can see that the support hinges might get in the way for counter space use. We want to convert the front bunk into a storage/office area so I am searching out a good solution to a desk top.

whew I knew it wouldn't be a problem with the lower bunk as it just skims the top side of the bottom cushion. Lucky when I went to set up the bed yesterday it did not interfer but I wasn't so sure at first as the post sits right in line with the edge of the shelf...so to answer your question no it does not interfer. And the shelf was just the extra space I needed for when I am cooking and shuffling things around.
