Front Window Shelf - Scamp 13'

I converted the front couch/bunk into a single bed; removed the couch back for more room... but still needed something to put my book, water, glasses, etc. (btw -- this is my first time posting pics to the forum so hopefully they come thru...)

Required a shim to level it from the little ledge Scamp has for the bunks:

Spans the width of the window, about 7" deep (should be out of head bonking range) with a 2" lip around the edge to hold stuff in and hide the underside.

Next project: Tip-out tray/drawer in front of kitchen sink. Hacking thru fiberglass -- another first!....

Great job Shannon. That front couch isn't very comfortable when it has the bunk. I've thought about removing mine, but I thought I should wait a while to see how many camping trips I have with the grandkiddlings.

Nice job Shannon. I did that a couple of years ago.

I'm also considering a tip out tray. I was standing in my kitchen sink a couple of years ago using both tip outs. What am I waiting for this would be a great mod to the Scamp.

Here it is a couple years later and all I have is an outline of where I would put it. I did research on-line for a metal tray because the home center only carries plastic. Then I saw that they come in different sizes, Duh.....I also happen to have 2 tip outs on the island in the kitchen. So I took one of each from the sink and island out to the trailer to see which size I'd like. Well...........that's as far as I got. When ever I get around to this project I plan to order a front from the factory so it will match all the cabinet doors. I just need to tell them the size and which way the grain goes.

Hi Joy, thanks for the pics; I really like yours with the rounded corners and edging. When I was researching shelf ideas I saw your version...very slick. As far as the tip-out tray, I actually finished mine this weekend. It went in pretty easily and looks great. I will post pics and details in a couple days.

Thanks.

Very nice work on your shelf Shannon! Your carpentry finishing skills far exceed mine on my front shelf. You'll really enjoy it.
