I see! Thanks, Dave.

Well, my new AC arrived today, damaged. Dangit, I want to have it operational by my Florida vacation next week. I have 30 days to ship this one back, so I believe I'll just mock up the install with it.

And another question:

What does the original door striker plate look like? Mine is poor.

I have this piece which came with a Bargman rebuild kit, but I don't see how it would ever work in this application.

I can fabricate whatever I need, would just like to see how it was supposed to be. Been sitting on a $150 new door seal until I resolve this detail.

Your plate looks like my older Boler one which I removed when I put on the new style lock. It came with a strike plate similar to your new one but I made a slight error in rebuilding my door as I made it to tight of a fit so with my new trim with the bulb seal it won't close so for now I have not installed the trim seal or the strike plate. The latch and the deadbolt both work they just latch onto the fiberglass instead of the metal plate. Btw in your picture of the a/c it looks like the damage was only some bent fins, you may be able to carefully straighten them, probably won't effect the performance.

Thanks John. If I wasn't paying full price I might accept that damage. I tested it and it works, but is dented on three sides.

Nice job Glenn, very professional looking. I am guessing the port is for pulling in cooler air, so are you venting the hot air through the bottom or another port? On mine I pulled cool air from under the trailer and vented the hot air out the side with a soffit vent that looks similar to the 3 way fridge vents but only a couple bucks at Lowe's. I considered adding a couple of computer fans behind the vent cover as others have done here but there is plenty of positive pressure from the condenser fan to push the hot air out so I don't think adding those vans have much effect. I do like your port though as you can close them to keep the elements and bugs out when not using the a/c.

There's an identical port on the side for exhaust.

Also had to add an outlet to serve the AC. You can see it lower left.
