Gas bottle/battery relocation

I have a LiteHouse 4two. The trailer has a small LP gas tank mounted on the tongue, just under the spare tire. It's the old style of gas bottle and is going to cost a few bucks if I replace it.

I've never done any cooking inside the trailer except for making coffee on a rainy morning. For us, cooking outside is part of the goodness of hanging out in the woods. We carry a table, portable stove and the new style LP gas bottles in the back of our pickup (along with a campfire tripod and chains; but that's another story).

That brings up the battery. Right now, the electrical system is the "weak link" in the trailer. The current battery rides above the axle under one of the fiberglass benches. It's a booger to get in and out. I'd like to install a larger battery or perhaps two.

My plan is to remove the current gas bottle from the tongue and replace it with some kind of battery box. I figure I'll be able to engineer a way to connect standard portable LP gas cans to the existing connection; probably with parts from the big blue hardware store.

So I have two questions: Am I doing something foolish, and What do I do with the old bottle?

If the bottle is unique save it for posterity, if not, use it for your grill then exchange it. As for foolishness , no , I think you have the perfect Idea for a LiteHouse, Great Trailer! Keep it or you'll miss it!
