Generator Box

I wanted to mount a Yamaha 2400 generator on the front of my 17’ Casita and also keep both propane bottles. This is what I came up with. There is a locking bracket on the bottom of the generator so I can use a pad lock for security. I use tie down straps to keep the generator from moving around while traveling and loosen them when it’s running.

I ran a 10 gauge three conductor wire from the generator to the rear of the trailer and will hard wire it into a double pole double throw 30 amp switch to select power from the campground or the generator. I still need to finish this, just haven’t made time to complete.

I had concerns with adding the weight to the front, so I also reinforced the frame with .25” wall thickness 1.5” square tubing from the front to the axle mount.

looks good.

Speaking for myself, I would make a removable cover for the generator. Out of sight, out of mind. Don't advertise what is inside the box. It would also keep it cleaner.

I agree. I want to have a weather proof cover made to protect it from the elements. I have the Yamaha cover, however it doesn’t fit now with the added bracket I’m using to attach the tie down straps.
