How to relocate spare tire

Has anyone relocated the spare tire from the rear of 16' Scamp camper to underneath the tongue?

It is possible, but why do you want it? What is the reason for the mod?

How to locate spare tire

I need the weight off the rear to mount a bike rack and the extra tongue weight to balance load.

That move may equal out the weight pretty good Keith.

I would be concerned about losing ground clearance.
that would also be under the battery where acid could spill and do damage to the rim and tire.
some folks have made a bike rack in front above the battery and LP tanks.
It's a better place for bikes. On the rear they can block the tail lights.

Don't think you'll ever see a clearance problem with the tire mounted under the A frame, the angle points, axle-ball-axle, on these molded TT's are to short for much real change. If you should hit it mounted there, well you'd have to be off roading or curb hopping. My last class A had 12' between the rear axle and hitch, that one would drag just going through a road drainage swale if I had to cross it at a 90* angle. I wouldn't be worried about battery acid dripping either. I've only had one battery leak to the extent of dripping in over 120 vehicles and don't think it would hurt the tire anyway, may be wrong but I've never had it hurt rubber that it contacted. If you wanted to give it a try, cut a 2x4 for the top to span the frame, then through bolt the spare up. Have someone watch as you try different angles. I think you'll be fine with the change.

I have done this mod and like it very much. So far I haven't had it hit anything.
