And that airspace suggestion was why cari & i put a layer of the mailing bubble wrap (the large bubbles...maybe 1/2"??) between two layers of reflectix. It makes the wall nice and soft-spongy to the touch. Nice if you are throwing camping gear against the wall, no scratches or tears to this point (2+ seasons in the van).

Thom, I use to have a nice conversion van a few years ago and really loved it. We spent two months in it traveling to Alaska and back. I always thought it would be nice to take a Sprinter and make a nice camper van out of it. You get nice height, and great mileage with it. If I didn't do that I would just get another conversion van.

my wife and i are so with you on the idea of Sprinters making nice camping vans. We drove to Portland from the coast (~100 miles) to the Freightliner dealer and drove the LWB SB. Lots of room in there! The only thing that finally stopped us is they were the closest place for any service work.

This is a shot of one of the Sprinters done by the sister company that did ours. Both in Portland. Beautiful workmanship!

Now that's what I'm talking about. Another drawback is of coarse the price. That's why I would have to get a used one and probably do the conversion myself.

I'm still wondering what Escape puts on its walls- if not the same "rat fur/hulliner/headliner" that practically everyone else is using, then what????

It's sorta like getting asked by your wife if she looks fat in those jeans. You know, whatever your response, you're gonna get one in the face.

Newsflash!

I looked at the Escape specs, and it turns out that the wallcovering is "insulated vinyl ".

Sounds washable- I like it!

I'm surprised nobody else knew that, though...

Actually I suspect a lot of folks did they just thought perhaps you were trying to be funny and trying to give Escapes covering a nick name.

Back to your original question as to what is the difference between Scamps "rat fur" wall covering and marine headliner - absolutely nothing! When I talked to scamp a few years ago on the topic (looking to order a small amount) I was told it was marine grade head liner.

Really?

How very peculiar...not sure what part of my "what does Escape put on the walls if not hulliner/headliner/rat fur" would give anyone that impression.

Onward through the fog!

OK, sooooo, i'm a complete NOB here at FBRV forum even though i've lurked here for quite some time (read years). . . so I'm not familiar with the different personalities. But i actually thought you were throwing out some humor asking the question.

Sent with an EggMcFamily Hug,
