At most places we go to gather with other
Fiberglass Trailerites, I like to decorate the outside like it's Party Time!
It mostly means putting out the
awning and hanging the decorations from that.
Since the 1st of the year we have camped at Quartzsite and Temecula.
Both locations are Desert areas that have a lot of WIND (hence my title).
The wind keeps me from putting out the
awning, so I don't have anything to hang my decorations from.
My next trip will be to
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ing-50105.html, another windy venue, but I want to get into the party mood and decorations are called for! (along with 6 bottles of white wine)
I bought a 10' "stick" of 1" diameter schedule 40 PVC irrigation pipe, because my
awning is 10' long. Drilled 1/4" holes about 3" in from each end and tied boot laces through the holes.
Then I ran the tube through my table saw to cut a groove in it just like the trak in the roll-up awning tube.
I've zip-tied my strings of
lights to trak hangars. I slide the hangars into the groove in the schedule 40 pipe.
Then I lay the pipe on top of the closed awning so the
lights hang in front of the rolled-up fabric up out of the way of the entry door...
...and tie the boot laces to the mounting bracket that attaches the top of the awning legs to the trailer.
Wa-lah: Awning
lights without the awning!
