Ice box door issues

My 72 Boler 1300 came with an ice box. The door had issues for the last 25 years and finally the door fell off and I set out to replace the ice box with a fridge. After reading forum posts and pricing out new and used ones I decided to fix it!

Here is the ice box with door off and removed from the Boler.
You can see the only damage is around the flange especially where the door is mounted.

So I decided a 11/2"x1/4" aluminum flange glued to the existing plastic ice box might work. I mitered the corners to 45 degrees and filed down the corners to prevent scratches etc.

Here are the results, it works great, held up under a bumpy road or two and now keeps the beer cold most importantly!

Great job! I have seen dozens of those boxes with that same damage. Your repair looks great!
