Indoor/outdoor thermometer recommendation?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with a particular indoor/outdoor temperature unit on their trailer.

I would like one that also does humidity. I have an Oregon Scientific one I use at home but I don't like the display or shape for trailer use - I would prefer a wall mount. Also, I noted when in Las Vegas that the humidity was not very accurate.

I am wondering if anyone has had success leaving the outdoor censor outside somewhere - perhaps inside the LP shroud? I am guessing the remote sensor on any digital unit will be too flimsy for the road and I will have to just store it inside and deploy it outside when I park.

I have a cheapy unit that I imagine is no longer made and that has worked fine for 5 years or so. The remote sensor is zip-tied and velcroed to the frame under the trailer to keep it out of the sun. It seems to be OK down there. I have only replaced the battery once or twice.

use a michigan weather machine...
hang a piece of string outside.


if the string is verticle and dry , its fair weather
if string is horizontal, its breezy
if string is wet, its raining
if string is stiff, its cold

I have an Acu-rite Model 00592W2 that has in/out temp & humidity as well as time, date, and phases of the moon. Don't remember how much, but it was a Walmart purchase.

I keep the outside sensor under the propane tank cover...

I have a Davis Vantage Vue at home, but that is overkill for the trailer!

I turned an Oregon Scientific desktop unit into a wall mount. I used a plastic welding tip to cut off the foot/tongue on the back of the clock, and made a picture-frame like wall mount that has a groove cut into it where the raised rim of the clock unit slides in and out. One side of the frame forms a "cap" that is epoxied to one end of the thermometer display, and four neodymium magnets, one each at the top and bottom margins of the frame and cap, hold the clock securely in its U-shape dock.
