Installed new LEDs

Back in 2004 I bought some white LED bulbs from Superbright.
LED Lights & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS

While they drew minimal current, about 80 mA., they weren't much brighter than a night light. Recently I installed these 15 LED warm white units to replace the 921 incandescent bulbs that came with our trailer. While not cheap they should last a long time and I expect some pay back in battery life. At 200 mA. they draw 1/7 the current as the 921. I always found the 921 a little too bright. These are perfect and the warm white is great for reading. To use the existing socket, I mounted them on a small piece of printed circuit board.

For the technically curious, the circuitry on the back is a full wave bridge to eliminate polarity issues followed by what I believe is a current source driver which maintains a constant brightness with variations in battery voltage.

For use in a camper, these are the best I've seen. Raz

LED with 102 Leds

I had upgraded all our incandescent bulbs to a 1156 LED replacement. The replacement LED lamp has 64 LEDs. I recently purchased LED Bulbs with 102 LEDs that are brighter than the 64s.

I bought them on EBay. I think they were about $3.00 for 2 bulbs plus shipping. I looked recently and there are even more densely packed bulbs available now.

Since the number of LEDs is not necessarily proportional to brightness I installed one of each over the table and the 102s are visibly brighter.

For outdoor lights....Porch etc....these are plenty bright. Will also work indoors and give a nice white light.

Do you know if those are available in warm white?

They do list the color spectrum on Ebay, though I would say mine are bright white which I like.

Thanks for that link Spanke. Those appear very similar to the ones in Don's post except they're 24 LEDs instead of 18, & they're available on eBay.com instead of eBay.ie & for only a few cents more per... Think I'll order a few of them as I'm re-doing the lights in my Scamp 13. I ordered a couple of these - eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices - last month (apparently not available anymore?) & they're very bright but involve considerable modification of the lights. The ones you reference appear to be much easier to use in my already existing light fixtures.

Price of LEDs??? Guys am I missing something? I've been looking on ebay for 120 SMD LEDs for 1156. The prices for apparently the exact same bulb range from $6 each to $82 each . Do I need new glasses?

Hi Norm, I wish you best on your trip. What white color are your bulbs?
George.

Some of the prices on ebay are for multiple packs of the same bulb. They will usually state 1X or 10X at the beginning of the listing.

And some people are just out to rip off unsuspecting and uneducated buyers.
