Instead of paint, has anyone thought of "skinning" you egg?
Wondering if there are any pros or cons vs. painting. what do you all think?

I guess it's vinyl...like the stuff they put on vehicles for advertisment.

I'm thinking a vinyl coating would be an expensive all over proposition for something fairly easily damaged (rock chips on the front for instance) and question the long term ability to stand up to UVs. If paint is out of the question, maybe follow the lead of those that think Red Max is wonderful stuff?

I think if you search auto wrap you will find it. It cost hundreds of doallrs for simple wraps and thousands for the SUV and more difficult ones. For the price you could paint your camper several times at Maaco.... It says it lasts about 5 years or is at least guaranteed for that. But some only last a year. Randy

Take a look at an old vinyl topped Caddy or LTD from the late '70s/early 80s.

FYI Vinyl wraps usually cost the same, if not more than paint jobs, especially when it's a difficult installation like wrapping an egg with 3 axis compound curves. Pat

I've done vinyl tops on several cars, usually because the tops were dented by someone climbing on them or carrying something heavy on top without a proper car top carrier.

It isn't too bad a job, however an industrial upholstery sewing machine is usually needed to seam the material as it is seldom wide enough. Along with this is a bench large enough so the seam comes out perfect and straight.

Where you will be challenged is at the ends where a compound curve exists. Even though the vinyl is quite stretchy, there are limits. You would need to develop and construct "gores" similar to those seen on older Airstreams and Avions, except in sewn vinyl. I'd say you'd have to be pretty good to pull this off and make it look professional.

Probably, paint is a much better strategy.
