john in flushing

I have a 1974 10' Scamp with a sagging door. The bolts on the upper door have enlarged the holes in the door. The fix seems to be to remove the door, fill the holes with bondo, reinforce the area with fiberglass cloth, drill new holes and replace the door.

I have redone the main cabinet to allow installation of 12v converter, microwave and 110v fridge. Will post pics when I find how to do it.

I wouldn't use a Bondo type material, I'd use fiberglass resin and cloth and try to reinforce the area with wood or metal, but we don't own a Scamp so I'm not real familiar with the door construction on them. Wood or metal could be fiberglassed into the door maybe?

Hi John, welcome to FiberglassRV. I'll leave the help on the door issue to the experts. But, I wanted to pop in and say we're glad you're here!

Nice to see another Michigander on here (I'm a transplant from the Standish area). Hope you can get it all shipshape again soon so you can enjoy it!

John, welcome to the group from a neigbor (Fenton). Get the door situation squared away (or not ) and come on over to Algonac for Sept 7-9. There's still open sites and we're spreading ourselves all over the campground. There's around 24-ish coming so far. Check out the rally page.

Hi: john in flushing... Here's a pic. of what I used to fill the door holes. This stuff sets up in an hour and is drillable and rock hard too. It also bonds to fiberglass. Avail. at most auto supply stores.
