Ladies aid for entry door

I found a pressure suction cup handle at HD that I attached right by my door to help me get in and out. It has two releases so I can move it if necessary. Used it last weekend and I really liked it.

Seems pretty useful. What department in HD did you find that in?
When there is a storm coming I'm pretty sure my knees would appreciate a little help from my arm in getting into the trailer.

I do have to say that given I have a deep voice and rather heavy facial hair "Ladies Aid" might not be the exact name I would give it in my trailer, oh yeah wait it's for the DW yeah that's it for her.

I purchased several of those for my elderly DAD for use in the bathroom... I certainly wouldn't call them a Ladies aid.

I mean... REALLY? Sounds more like Depends for Women

I realize that the OP is well intended with their recommendation of this item, and I am sorry to have to be the voice of disagreement here but, by trusting a <$15 suction cup device, one is risking a broken hip or other bodily injuries.

Yes, in theory and practice it works today, but even the smallest amount of dirt under that cup, or an imperfect sealing (see the reviews) can weaken the seal and send one into the condition referred to in the medical field as "A$$ over teakettle". I would only trust my health & safety to a permanently attached assist handle that has a back-up panel on the inside as well.

Here's a link to the product shown:
Glacier Bay 12 in. x 1-1/4 in. Suction Assist Bar with Suction Indicators in White-GB-SUC12-01 at The Home Depot

In the product description it's clearly stated: "Use for stability only" i.e., it's not intended to be a weight supporting device as it could be, especially when using it when entering ones trailer.

BTW: Pulling sideways on this devices is a worst case scenario.

A standard 18" to 24" assist bar, permanently attached to that wall, would be much safer

Gotta agree with Bob, no way would I trust that to pull my weight up and forward. If it lets go you are probably going to fall backwards.

A handle bolted (not screwed) to the trailer would be the only safe 'ladies aid'.

I'm glad it was posted. I always have a hard time reaching out and closing my door and I couldn't bring myself to make more holes in the fiberglass. This is the perfect product! Will keep me from using the curtain wire on the door window as a handle.

I love suction cup stuff... for dish towels, miscellaneous racks, etc. I have a bunch in the Oliver. But I have a real bolted grab bar for the "high steps" that happen so often on uneven ground. I love it.

for Brandi, I removed latch from door, inserted piece of plywood, screws through handle into plywood. Works great and takes strain off the irreplaceable Bargman latch.

I've got to agree with Bob too. My SD had a couple in the bathroom, they seem to hold well...but.....
I understand why people don't want to put any holes in the shell but an assist handle is a no brainer as a bolted on addition.

Here's mine in my Casita. It's on the left side as you go out. I had one in exactly the same spot in my Scamp. Use a piece of scrap wood behind and bolt it through. A lifesaver going out. Easy. Lowes, HD, OSH. Bath section.

I bought a couple of these at the local Liquidation World a few years ago.

I like them because they are bright orange, and I won't forget to put it away!
