Large Dinette, Queen sized bed, and a Couch! My ParkLiner!

Well the cover needs a little bit of reworking but it works for the photo's!

I needed a better mattress to sleep on, the 2" crappy mem foam topper I bought wasn't enough so I picked up a 6" foam and mem foam mattress and put it on top of the dinette cushions. I foolishly thought i could just fold it like a futon and it would stay, well it wouldn't so I ended up cutting the foam into a 20" wide piece and a 39" wide piece. The cover needs to be modified and stitched together like a hinge. I cut a piece of luan 22"x78" for the back support and put 2 milkcrates back there to lean the backrest against and to hold the bedding during the day.

At night I can just pull out the 2 milk crates and the bed drops back down to a bed... by day its a lounge!

Great idea Deryk. I don't think I've seen anyone else do this. I had to read it a couple of times to understand it and finally got it! How smart!!! Take another picture when its all finished.

deryk, if you ever want to have some real fun upgrading your benches/bed in the PL... remember there is always the Froli Sleep system you can add right under your existing cushions without any modification to the Parkliner. This video gives you a couple examples of installations. The only downside i see is that once you sleep on the Froli you will want to get one for your home like we did. There is not a night we are without the Froli now.

On comfort...my wife and i went to a family reunion recently and were put up in a 5 star hotel for the event. They had some fancy pillow top king bed in there. We woke up the first morning after and looked at each other and asked ourselves why we didn't drive the van to the event (a state away) and just sleep in the van! The Froli is that comfy for us. And the air circulation under the mattress is a bonus, never any mildue/mold.

Good call on posting that info, should have thought of it myself!

FYI we use the "Star" kit in the van & one in the 5th wheel.

The only other cost is whatever pad you throw on top. I would recommend anything from ~2" to ~6" in a gel type mattress "Topper(s)" you can get from most any big-box store. We have two 2" on ours just cuz we wanted blissful luxury ; ) You could simply put the stock seat pads and the Froli would take any _bite_ out of the firmness and make things comfy.

Here is another pic of the Froli as it went into our van conversion:

and all the springs in place:


This could easily be several columns of foundation+springs spread out over seats + behind seat backs ...ready for making bed at night.

Deryk, I admire your creativity in making things in your camper the way you want them. Sometimes it's trial and error I have found. Then you finally solve the problem.
You must do a lot of sewing, good talent.

The other thing to take note of, our queen froli system weighs about 7 pounds...(not including pads). That is not much weight for a luxury bed foundation!

Thanks Diane! Yeah I keep myself pretty busy with projects and crafts. I figure the simple changes to it keep it interesting for me lol... eventually Im willing to make another awning so I have a choice which one I want up.

OK, since I wasnt away camping I got to work a bit on the cover for my new mattress/couch! The luan board is the backrest, and it leans against the 2 milk crates...I store the bedding back there during the day and assorted loose stuff while traveling like the wire and bamboo serving tray and wires for the chargers etc.

Thanks Betty Lou! I need to take a picture, added 4 more throw pillows, one was from a skirt my mom wore back in the 70's and colours matched so she came across it and asked me if I wanted it to make something out of it!

I like to think of my ParkLiner as my traveling home...
