Larger front bunk in a 13' Scamp

The standard width of my front lower bunk is 19".Way to small for an adult to sleep on. I changed it to a width of 31" . I made a flip out board hinged to the bench. I used automotive 2 sided tape to hold the hinge to the lower bench seat. I didn't want to drill any holes in the seat. I used PVC pipe as a lower brace add foam to the top and you are done. Tried it last weekend and it works PERFECT.

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin----love the way you think!! I removed the bunk apparatus so we could put the back cushion on top of the seat cushion----which gave us about 4 more inches of width. But this will add even more (so the person with the bigger dinette bed doesn't also have to have both pugs!) And I can sleep in my knees up fetal position.

Thanks for sharing this! Keep the ideas coming!

You don't need to sleep in the fetal position just sleep at a slight angle with your feet in the smaller part of the bed.

Ah, but the beauty is I CAN sleep with my knees bent, and a dog can have the space at the end! This is a great idea!!!

That's pretty neat! I had never measured the bed space with the couch back in place - that really lops off a chunk (28" at the main width in my boler right now with couch back up in bunk position or removed).

Now you have a comfortable couch and a bed, with no upper bunk deployed. Nice option.
