LED bulbs on the cheap?

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple simple questions. I'd like to change all lights inside the Scamp 2012 13er into led. Have side lights on kitchen cabs, one under cab and 2 reading lights. Where do you all go for decent quality lights that are reasonably priced?

Also, if you change over, are there any special requirements or changes that need doing to the power panel? You can tell I'm not that bright (ha ha)

And if I ever change out my tail lights to led, can you just put an led bulb in there as well? I hear they're brighter and suck less juice. And don't feel as hot to the touch. All good things I reckon.

Cheers,
Wendy

I bought mine on Amazon. I paid extra for bayonet the type bulbs.

No changes needed at the power panel.

For exterior use flashing type turn signals might need s resistor added to slow the flashing tedium to notable speeds. No need for this on running lights or brake lights.

Thank you Night Sailor. Sweet and simple and all I needed to know! I'll start with the inside lights first. Resistors and such sounds beyond my capabilities. But hey I can screw in a light bulb! 😊

Here's what I got.
10 for $15.27 shipped from the US.
They are available in 4000k warm white, 6000k Super white and 7000k cool white. No resisters required and they come with bases that you insert where the bulb was.
Ive used them for 2 weeks on battery power and 4 days on shore power.
I have the 6000k super white ones. Select the quanity and color at the bottom of the listing.

What about the LED bulbs on Ebay that have the regular round base and the LED's arranged around it like a regular bulb? Would they not work? They are about a dollar apiece from a US seller - for that price if one goes bad just buy extras..

Unlike regular bulbs round LED bulbs have about half of the individual led's pointing off the side or to the rear that do no good.

The flat panels have all 48 LED's pointing outward giving you all available light. With the included round bayonet bases they are simple to install

Buying extra's is my thinking too. Now I've put them in the two outside lights on my Casita.

The flat panel ones with round adapters are $1.57 each when you get 10.

I bought some of the round panel ones from China (they are all I understand) and used the first one for an outside light. Over about 16 hours part of the 60 LEDS started to fail so not happy.

I've bought about 40 or so 12 volt LED bulbs of various types and have only had 2 go bad.
Not bad considering how inexpensive they are getting.

Ah!
I missed the "panel" and only saw round

I've got two that I messed up couple of the small surface mount resisters on the back side. That would also explain them being adjacent.
As I recall on mine each resister drives 3 led's.

Mine come with strips too but they didn't stay stuck and removing the tape was when the resisters came off.

I am going to have the seller take mine back or replace them individually.
