Light up alarm clock?
We're looking for an alarm clock that will run of 12v that can be read in the dark. I suppose a battery powered one would be OK too, as long as it stays lit (not one of those push to light up types).
Anyone have suggestions?

We have been looking for the same thing. Hate to wake up in the dark and not know whether to go back to sleep or not. They seem to be hard to find.

alarm clock
I found this one at my local drug store. Battery operated. It has a light sensor and lights up when things start to get dark. Goes back to normal during daylight.
It was cheap. Maybe $10. The only marks on it are Model # 30330. Brand appears to be Night vision technology.

I use a clock app on my phone. Works great, and is very visible. It is called Night Clock, not sure if it is available from Apple, but it is on Android. It has its own alarm, or you can use the native Android alarm.

Camping and alarm clocks don't mix.
I do have a clock that runs on a small battery. I really want to know what time it is when it's dark a small LED flash light does the trick.

If you can't read the clock, it's too dark. Go back to sleep.

Some of us (like me) often like to get up before first light. Best part of the day. Besides, if I wake up, unless it is super early, I am up for good anyway. Never was good at going back to sleep. Darn sleep is a waste of time, but unfortunately neccessary.

Drugstores seems to have them, but they are not digital and battery operated. They usually have the orange light.

A quick search of "Model 30330" showed that the clocks are available on-line for $14-$16.

Another option is a wristwatch (remember those?) with a light-up dial. Mine is a Timex and I keep it in the net pocket that I put in my curtain pockets (when I'm not wearing it). In the photo you will see several "comforts" I added to my trailer. 1. curtains with net pockets, 2. Velcro-mounted pockets for reading material, etc. 3. baby crib bumper attached with Velcro keeps rat fur clean and protects me from hitting metal hardware on wall. Of course, any of my forum postings includes my decor consisting of curtain panels, pillows and furry friends! (click on photo for close-up view)

London drugs had a large selection or battery operated ones. A dollar store cord could be easily adapted to a battery powered units if a plug in option is prefered. I would choose a clock with a voltage I knew I could get the cord for if planning to add the cord.

I have the Lacrosse model listed above. I found it at a truck stop. Truck stops have a lot of 12 volt appliances and are good places to shop. Since I had the clock in our previous Escape I asked ETI to run an extra 12 volt cable to where I knew it would be visible from the bed. To make it visible without taking up valuable counter space I used a magnetic cabinet door latch and now suspend the clock from the underside of the upper cabinet.
Some extra cord allows the clock to be stored in the cabinet when travelling.
The criteria for the clock is not only the alarm but the fact the clock has a well lit display that is always on, making it easy to read the time at all hours.

...our alarm clock comes in the form of a Bose stereo. It has a clock & timer, plays c.d's plus, plus!!
It is lit 24/7 and uses shore power.
When we go glamping we always use 'lectricity and never go boon docking. (each to their own!!)

MMMMM, camping shouldn't even allow an alarm clock. I tossed my alarm clock 8 years ago when I retired. Now it's only light-thirty or dark-thirty and I've never been late yet

I don't use an alarm clock for the alarm/wake me up aspect. If I wake up and it is still dark outside, I want to know what time it is. My camping alarm clock is one of those auto-set electric clocks; plug it in an it sets itself. Very convenient. If I don't have hook-ups, I default to a Timex indigo beside the bed. For those rare occasions I have to be up at a certain time, I use the alarm on the cell phone.
