I cut the table in my tent trailer into 1/3 and 2/3 so that I could flip up one side to access the rear bed without climbing over the benches.
I attached the pieces with a piano hinge that ran the length of the table.
Great idea, except that the 1/3 side sagged, even if you didn't lean on it.
I planned to employ some sort of support underneath the table, but ended up selling the trailer, so it wasn't my problem anymore.
You will have the additional problem that that table is also a bed and will have the full
weight of one or two people on it.
I suggest you not compromise the table/bed by cutting it.
