Looking for a bigger dining table

Hello everyone, we just bought a 1977 Trillium 4500 trailer last night. She is quite a gal, but her dining room table is too short. There is a leaf that goes in to making up the double bed from the dinette. Can we use the leaf to extend the very short dining room table? We're so new to this! Thanks!

Pictures might help.
In most of these trailers the dining table is as long as the bed is wide. If it's something else it's been modified at some time, I believe.

Hi Byron and Anne. The table is probably 2 feet shorter than the width of the beds. Yet there is a leaf. Not sure how it works.

Hi Bill & Kate, that's the way my trailer converts in the rear from dinette to bed. The extra piece is stowed under one of the dinette cushions until bed time. Then that piece comes out is added to the dinette table, the cushions are put into place and voila I have a bed!

Smile Short table

How do you have enough room to eat on such a short piece? We wonder if we can extend the table and use the entire piece for the bed support.
Thanks for writing. This is fun getting to know our Trillium.

I have a Scamp Deluxe, the bed is 54". The extra piece for bed mode is only about a foot. I think a dining table that's 40" in length is plenty for two or more people YMMV

Hey Donna,
Love your photo! We're taking "Marian" in for a quick checkup. We'll get measurements of dining table and get back with you. That would be awesome! Where are you in Oregon? Our kids are in Corvallis; will make a trip there the weekend of 10/19. Until we meet...Happy Trails.

I built a bigger table for our EggCamper. Of course, it isn't needed for the bed.

I had built a new table that hinged (3/4+1/4). Click on our avatar to see my album of mods. One can use it as a small table or open it up to full length. No need to try to store any extra pieces away for bed/table usage.
Good Luck

In the Trillium 4500 you have the option of a small table w/ access to the drawers under the bench and easier access to the table or you can put the leaf in which gives you a bigger table and is necessary to make the bed when you lay the table down for the platform under the cushions. In my 4500 the leaf is stored in the closet. You will figure it out-it is really quite clever and provides options not available in other small FG trailers.

Bill and Kate,
I have converted our bed/dinette to a full time bed so have the table and parts as well as the drawer unit that fits under the bench. I'm only a couple of mile from Corvallis if any of those parts are needed- send me a pm if you wish. I have other parts and pieces as well as a custom made cover for a 4500.

I store the extra piece for the table/bed under the cushion of the dinette. Outta sight, outta mind until time to make the bed. Just slide it over, viola... done.

Hello Donna,
We will check out the rallies. Haven't been to them yet. Our Marian is in getting checked over before we take her to Corvallis Oct. 19. And we have to learn to back her up! Took 10 minutes to back up down our short road, with neighbors watching and helping.

Ah, Reid, being the newbies we are to the Trillium, we thought the short table was it. When "Marian" returns from her checkup, we'll learn how to insert the leaf. Thanks for your common sense answer!

On my 4500 the leaf could be used as the table and the bed.It could also be left out of either one to make either Table or Bed smaller.

The only difference between it being setup as Bed or Table was the height which used standard back wall mount to flip it to either height position.

I have to think if you do have the leaf that you are just having a hard time visualizing how it can work?

Is yours different somehow than this?

Hello Ed,
We've not had our Trillium since 2 days after we bought her; she is at an RV repair place awaiting delivery of a new refrigerator. So we'll have a better idea of the dining table once we pick her up Oct. 19. Thanks for writing.
