That would be a good choice.

I had a thinner topper on my cushions and finally got rid of the cushions, made a mattress out of 2" dense foam with a topper of 4" memory foam. Best mattress I've ever slept on.

Since my rear, 4 person dinette is now set up permanently as a bed, I exchanged the 4" cushions for a 2" thick gym mat & added a slanted foam mattress & a 2" topper. Very comfortable, and because the gym mat folds, it is easy to get into the under seat compartments.

I am very happy with the results, the velcro is too much like work, this was easy and is very comfortable, I am very satisfied with the results.

When we had the cushions redone in the vberth of our sailboat, the upholsterer recommended 3 inches of firm foam, topped with 1.5 inches of memory foam. I was skeptical, but he let me test out some cushions made that way, laying on a flat plywood bench to simulate the boat. After the test nap, I was happy. Works well.
In our trailer, we have 4" cushions, with a 2" fake "down" feather bed, and it works well for us, too.
We have found great buys (and supercheap shipping) on overstock dot com for mattress pads. Read the customer reviews, as they're extensive, and usually accurate.
