Does the Max-Fan have the same feature?
It does have an easily removable screen as well.

One thing I'll mention that I HATE about the Maxx Fan (and hopefully somebody can tell me I can change it?!) is the loud beeping noise it makes when changing speeds.... no biggie in the daytime, but it seems extra loud when you've finally got 3 kids to doze off to sleep and you re-wake them by the beeps. I just remind myself I like the "open in rain" feature, to keep from getting too annoyed

My Maxx Fan doesn't beep. Must be a model difference.

I don't mean to hijack this post with MaxxFan's beeping woes, but I just found an answer to my question of whether it could be shut off. This forum post includes an email from MaxxAir itself.

Still no reply to my follow-up questions from Fantastic.
The MaxxAir beeping noise will certainly be annoying. Choices, choices, choices...

I really like the MaxxAir rain cover, but then the Fantastic offers a fixed cover, and although it isn't integrated with the vent cover, it does allow leaving the vent open in the rain. A fixed cover might cut my gas mileage. On the other hand, the current draw on the highest speed looks to be 3.0 amps for the Fantastic vs. 4.0 amps for the MaxAir. Ten speed vs. 14 hmmm... but, how many speeds will I really use?

This may just come down to costs. They both look like good products with good service. Although I'm still put off by the MaxxAir beeper. If I have to access the PCB as suggested by MaxxAir support, I won't just tape it over, I'll disconnect it completely.

This is one of my spring/summer projects. Stay tuned.

Ron

Mine is the Turbo/Maxx with thermostat. It stays stationary, no raising or lowering, 3 speeds both directions. At the time I really wavered between this one and the one you chose... now I'm sorta glad I didn't buy that bleepin' fan.

I have a Fantastic-fan with a Camco Aero-Flo RV Roof Vent Cover. I think the shape mitigates any fuel economy loss. I like the access to the FF for cleaning from the top.

Speaking of screw holes, the new fantastic fan installs have no screws, they are using a clamp system.

We have a 2001 Scamp and would like to replace the original vent with a fan. The whole for the fan is a rectangle...not the standard 14X14 square. Any suggestions on which fan we could use in he rectangle? Also, we would prefer one with a remote.

Welcome to FGRV, Jimmie.....most standard vents and openings are 14x14, perhaps you confused an escape hatch are your vent? they maybe different sizes. Was there an existing fan in the vent with power to it? If not then there are some threads here modifying a larger opening to the standard 14 x 14 vent opening.

Thanks for the welcome, Jim. Our main problem is that our 2001 SCAMP was not ordered by the 1st owner to include an air conditioner. We are trying to help out that problem (somewhat) by putting in a fan that would blow out hot air and pull in some fresh air. We are not interested in trying to put an air conditioner in the scamp. Our original plan was to put in a fantastic fan, but see that they only come in 14X14 square and our vent is a rectangle.
