More Surfside renovations

The egg is back on the "new"ish frame and I just added a skylight for an RV (Skylighter $95.00 cdn)

I removed the old furnace, and had to fill the vent hole... I found a new boat hatch at a used marine place and it fit with only having to grid about 1/4" of fiberglass.

The interior is completely stripped and I am going to put up marine liner like what they use in a bayliner boat. If this is boring let me know and I'll quit.

Nope! Not boring!

Tony, I love your RV skylight! And the boat hatch install looks great.

Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.

Well, I have a question.
is that new vent heavy? I was noticing on my TT the top was sagging. like it would like some help staying up there. I wouldn't feel safe putting some thing heavier up on top. but I sure like the look.

The sagging roof cure

I had the same problem with the SS Surfside if you look in the last picture you can see I fiberglassed a 3/4" x 2" piece of fir onto the cieling, I used a 1x2" piece to hold it up just slightly "up" to induce a slight curve in the roof.
The skylight actually strengthens the roof as it has a nice aluminum fram and I cut out a large part of the sagged roof.
It is a huge improvement. I am going to replace all the louvered windows as they are in poor condition. I plan to use tinted plexiglass for privacy as the skylight gives lots of light inside.
The Daylighter skylight is the same one that they are putting in the new FRP Bigfoot trailers.
I found a set of mold for a FRP trailer near Vancouver and a boatbuilder friend of mine and myself are thinking of producing kits for do it yourselfers ?

You go!

Keep the pictures coming. Although I would never personally attempt such extreme repairs, seeing what you and others do gives me the courage to take on more minor changes in my own trailer. I love watching your progress!

Nancy
