My Boler Updating/Resto Project

Hey All,

Since I've been spending so much time working on the Boler I picked up last year I haven't had a chance to introduce myself:

Hi my name is Mike and I spend too much time working on my Boler Here's some photos of what I've done so far.

NICE work Mike, really like how you did PVC for wire runs. If someone gutted their trailer for resto this makes good sence for future use. Did you leave a couple pull strings in it?

Hi Mike, you do nice work. Could I see more pics of your LED kitchen light and a description of how you made it? Thanks, and remember copying someone's work is the highest flattery. (Hope ur chuckling)

Dave, I didn't bother with rope pulls since each section is fairly short. I found 1"ID pipe was the perfect size to just fit under the profile of the rear bench mounting flanges and allow lots of wires to pass through. Thanks for the compliment!

As for how the lights are made, they're constructed from aluminum U-channel and household LED strip lights. Both were sourced from a hardware store.

The kitchen light was made from the u-channel riveted to a thick aluminum sheet for the top, plexiglass for the cover and many cut pieces of the u-channel to make guides for the plexiglass. The top of the plate was covered with shiny aluminum ducting tape to reflect the light better.

The other lights were made from smaller u-channel and end potted using Araldite 2011 (you could cap it other ways too). These lights are multi-colour and I've wired a switch which allows me to select ON-OFF-REMOTE. The remote mode means I can use the fancy light patterns and the ON mode is just white. As with the kitchen light, aluminum ducting tape was used on the inside.

My Boler Updating/Resto Project

Hey there. Yup, I made a template. Here's some pics:

Name:   ImageUploadedByFiberglass RV1430024851.443255.jpg
Views: 54
Size: 13.4 KB
Used a piece of scrap drywall to make the template

Name:   ImageUploadedByFiberglass RV1430024893.590430.jpg
Views: 53
Size: 16.3 KB
Shaped it

Name:   ImageUploadedByFiberglass RV1430024930.471198.jpg
Views: 53
Size: 15.3 KB
Then used it to make two pieces

Name:   ImageUploadedByFiberglass RV1430024985.361603.jpg
Views: 53
Size: 15.9 KB
A few nails and a bent rod gave me a nice curve for the inside

A lot of sanding and finagling later, voila!

I will echo what others have said before, check your door for trapped water and that the lower rail under your floor that connects the frame to the outside panel is okay.
